Giving back to the community

Air Products is committed to not only the safety and health of its workers, but also the health, wellbeing and livelihood of the communities in which we operate.

We are the world’s largest hydrogen supplier and have been operating in the Humber for over four decades, producing and distributing hydrogen as a process gas from our facilities in Hull. Our teams live and work in the area, and we are already part of the local community and active members of initiatives such as Future Humber and CATCH.

Sponsoring fire and rescue cadets in Immingham

Air Products sponsors the Humberside Fire and Rescue Service’s first Immingham fire cadets unit. The Cadet scheme provides young people with the opportunity to engage with their local fire service and to explore the many different career options that the fire and rescue service can offer whilst improving core skills including teamwork, communication, and initiative. Through this impactful programme, the cadets can gain the ‘National Fire Cadet Award – Level 1’ of which can be progressed further in the following year.

Developing skills for the future

Air Products will be seeking to provide a range of apprenticeship and training opportunities for local people throughout the construction and operational phases of our projects.

We're engaging with local schools and colleges to provide opportunities for local children and students to learn and develop new skills through initiatives such as the National Careers Challenge and Children Challenging Industry.

National Careers Challenge

Air Products sponsors the Year 7 Sustainable Town of the Future challenge where the Students task is to develop a concept for a Sustainable Town including a key employer working alongside sustainable transport links, housing and food production. As part of the challenge, children learn about sustainable solutions and how hydrogen can be used to decarbonise this town of the future.

Each participating school sends their best teams to the national finals where each team presents their campaign to judging panels with the overall winner announced at the final. Air products fully funds ten secondary schools in Immingham to participate in the challenge and attend the final.

Children challenging industry

Air Products funds three primary schools in the Humber to take part in the events organised by the University of York. Children learn about industrial gases and how they contribute to industry. They are given challenges to complete in the classroom followed by a visit to our facility in Hull.
