During the IAA Transportation conference in Hanover, international opinion leaders from all relevant sectors discussed current challenges and presented their solutions and visions for global and regional transport in the future. Caroline Stancell, general manager Hydrogen for Mobility, Europe & Africa, held a keynote speech on hydrogen infrastructure, Air Products' hydrogen projects, and solutions showcasing our first-mover role in the field of hydrogen for mobility and industry.
Air Products Europe & Africa President Ivo Bols participated in the "Industrial Gas and the Clean Energy Revolution" panel at the Financial Times Hydrogen Summit in London (June 2022) along with:
The panel talked about whether industrial gas companies will take a lead in the hydrogen economy or whether a traditional focus on working as subcontractors for oil and gas companies will limit their participation.
Ivo Bols, Air Products Europe & Africa President, participated in the "Capitalizing on the Momentum Behind Hydrogen" panel during the Reuters Hydrogen 2022 Conference in Amsterdam (June 2022). Other panelists included:
During the session, panelists discussed how excitement around the hydrogen economy can be harnessed to influence policy, discourse, and transform the energy landscape. "Policies supporting both domestic production & import of hydrogen will underpin European ambitions to decarbonize the industry and heavy-duty mobility and achieve the climate objectives. To accelerate the energy transition, the industry needs clarity on the hydrogen regulatory landscape, funding possibilities & permitting to make decisions in the coming months, rather than years," said Mr. Bols.
During the World Hydrogen Summit (May 2022), more than 400 international professionals from the hydrogen industry, policy makers, and communities gathered in Rotterdam. Ivo Bols, Air Products President Europe & Africa, participated on a panel about the creation and development of Global Hydrogen Supply Chains together with:
During his presentation and panel discussion, Mr. Bols stated that, as a society, we urgently need hydrogen. Climate change and the new geopolitical reality require us to drastically accelerate the clean energy transition and Europe's energy diversification. Mr. Bols also emphasised that Air Products is a first mover in the development of these global supply chains, with projects such as the Green Hydrogen Filling Station for Trucks in Rotterdam and the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project.
Air Products was proud to be the headline partner of the Climate Action's Hydrogen Transition Summit during COP26 (November 2021). Our Chairman, President and CEO Seifi Ghasemi delivered the opening keynote speech, which positioned hydrogen as the energy source for the future and highlighted what governments can do to help further stimulate the transition to green energy.
Ivo Bols, Air Products President for Europe and Africa, participated in a Climate Leaders Live Fireside Chat at the Hydrogen Transition Summit where he discussed the steps needed to build a hydrogen economy and the speed at which a hydrogen economy can be established.
Mr. Bols also sat on a panel at the Sustainable Innovation Forum titled, "Where to look for 'Game Changers' in the Hydrogen Economy." Other panelists included Kim McCann, Head of Sustainability, Global Industrials and Manufacturing at PA Consulting; Lord Adair Turner, Chair of the Energy Transitions Commission; and Jochen Steinbauer, Platform Director H2 Technologies at Siemens Mobility. During the session, the panelists talked about the innovation and technological acceleration needed to make a hydrogen economy work for heavy industry and transport, as well as what is needed to make hydrogen technology more efficient and workable.
