This Cookie Notice explains how Air Products uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, “Tools”) to recognize you when you visit an Air Products website or use an Air Products app that links to the Privacy Notice. It explains what Cookies and other technologies are and why we use them, as well as the legal frameworks and works and your rights to control their use.
To learn more about which Cookies we use and for which purposes, please visit Cookie Preferences, which can be found in the Websites’ cookie pop-up banner.
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are stored and accessed on your device when you visit websites or other digital properties and allow websites and apps to recognize your device next time you visit, and track your use of the digital property, browsing history, personal preferences, and interest, and improve and customize your browsing experience. Cookies may contain or transmit unique identifiers that are considered personal information under certain data protection laws, such as IP address, device information, and website usage.
Why do we use Cookies on Air Products Websites?
We use Cookies for four main purposes:
- Required Cookies are strictly necessary to enable basic features of the Website and for security purposes related to user interaction.
For example, we use Required Cookies to ensure the Websites’ content is displayed correctly, to keep your individual language settings, temporarily store your input in webforms, identify and record your consent status for our Cookie Preferences manager according to your country, provide load-balancing functionality, and ensure session management when you authenticate and access secure areas of the Websites.
- Functional Cookies allow more functionality on our Website. This is done in order to save settings and provide additional and improved features and content.
For example, we use Functional Cookies to enable audio and video player functionality, to provide live chat services, or to recognize your device when you fill out a webform.
- Analytical Cookies, allow us and third parties to recognize you as a visitor, to analyze your use of the Website to evaluate and improve our performance as well as to provide a better user experience on our Websites.
For example, we use Analytical Cookies to collect and combine visitor usage information such as page views, session information, and bounce rate.
- Advertising Cookies allow us to better understand your interests and show you ads that are more relevant to you on our Websites. These Cookies are used to track users over time and across websites, including third party websites.
For example, we use Advertising Cookies to show our advertisements on third-party websites based on your user profile and preferences, and to determine when you visit our Websites directly from clicking on such advertisements. These Cookies may also reveal how many visitors with specific user profiles and preferences have seen or clicked on our advertisements to optimize our advertising campaigns.
What about other tracking technologies?
Cookies are not the only way to recognize or track visitors to our Websites. We use other similar but technically different means (such as tracking pixels or software development kits [SDKs], web beacons, HTTP Etags, local and session storage, TLS Session IDs, and JavaScript). For example, tracking pixels are tiny graphics files that contain a unique identifier that enable us to recognize when someone has visited our Websites or opened an email that we have sent them. This allows us, for example, to monitor the browsing history of users from one page within our Websites to another, to store or access Cookies, to understand whether users have come to our Websites from an online advertisement displayed on a third-party website, to improve site performance, and to measure the success of email marketing campaigns. In many instances, these technologies (covered by the term “Cookies”) allow our Websites or other digital properties to function properly, and so declining Cookies may impair their functioning and affect your user experience.
What Tools are we using?
- Optanon by One Trust
Our website uses the OneTrust plugin “Optanon by One Trust” to record and manage your consent and any withdrawals. If you make a decision in the consent banner, a cookie is set which records your consent or rejection. We set this technically required cookie on the basis of Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR to record your consent. Access to and storage of information in the device is strictly necessary in these cases and takes place on the basis of the implementation laws of the ePrivacy Directive of the EU member states, in Germany in accordance with § 25 (2) TTDSG. If you delete your cookies, we will ask you for your consent again when you visit the site later. You can withdraw your consent at any time or adjust the selection of tools by clicking on Cookie icon at the bottom left of our website.
- Brightcove Player
Our website uses Brightcove player to enable you to log in to and access audio/video content. Brightcove does not use any cookies. However, Brightcove supplied plugins and other third-party player plugins may use cookies. The cookies used by third party plugins are controlled by the third parties.
- Use of Google services for web analysis and advertising purposes
We use the technologies of Google Ireland Ltd, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland ("Google") described below. The information automatically collected by Google technologies about your use of our website is usually transmitted to a server of Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and stored there. If your IP address is collected via Google technologies, it will be shortened by activating IP anonymization before it is stored on Google's servers. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server and shortened there. Unless otherwise specified for the individual technologies, data processing is carried out on the basis of an agreement concluded for the respective technology between jointly responsible parties in accordance with Art. 26 GDPR. Further information about data processing by Google can be found in Google's privacy policy.
- DoubleClick from Google
Our website uses the online marketing tool DoubleClick from Google. DoubleClick uses cookies to display ads that are relevant to users, to improve campaign performance reports or to prevent a user from seeing the same ads more than once. Google uses a cookie ID to record which ads are shown in which browser and can thus prevent them from being shown more than once. In addition, DoubleClick can use cookie IDs to record so-called conversions that are related to ad requests. This is the case, for example, when a user sees a DoubleClick ad and later visits the advertiser's website with the same browser and makes a purchase there. According to Google, DoubleClick cookies do not contain any personal information. Due to the marketing tools used, your browser automatically establishes a direct connection with the Google server. We have no influence on the scope and further use of the data collected by Google through the use of this tool and therefore inform you according to our level of knowledge: By integrating DoubleClick, Google receives the information that you have called up the corresponding part of our website or clicked on the advertisement from us. If you are registered with a Google service, Google can assign the visit to your account. Even if you are not registered with Google or have not logged in, it is possible that the provider will find out your IP address and store it.
- Google Tag Manager
Our website uses Google Tag Manager, a service provided for persons from the European Economic Area and Switzerland by Google Ireland Limited. The Tag Manager is used to manage the tools and external services we use on our website and allows the use of so-called tags. A tag is a code element that is stored in the source code of the website, for example to control which page or service elements and tools are activated and loaded in which order. The tool triggers other tags, which in turn may collect data and which are further explained in this cookie policy.
- Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. Google Analytics uses cookies to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, if IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened by Google within the member states of the European Union or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area beforehand. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and then truncated there. Google will use this information on behalf of the operator of this website to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity and to provide other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

Do Not Track (DNT)
When you browse the web on computers or devices, you can send requests to websites not to collect or track your browsing data. The "Do Not Track" function is deactivated by default. However, what ultimately happens to your data depends on how the website responds to the request. Many websites still collect and use your browsing data to improve security, provide content and services, deliver advertising, compile reporting statistics and display recommendations on the website. Most websites and web services, including for example Google, do not change their behavior when they receive a "Do Not Track" request.
